MIAMI — Miami Fire Rescue crews responded to a building fire in the city’s Little Havana neighborhood Monday afternoon.
The fire broke out at a building at 40 NW Eighth Ave. Damage could be seen on the second floor.
The building houses a motorcycle dealer called EmNova Motorcycle Miami, though the fire started in the apartments upstairs. There was “heavy smoke damage to multiple apartments and the common hallway,” according to MFR.
An employee of EmNova told Local 10 News that the business wasn’t damaged.
An MFR spokesperson said all seven apartment units were cleared of residents and no injuries were reported. Some residents were not home at the time of the fire.
“Contact has been made with residents from four apartments, all of whom have been displaced,” an MFR news release states. “A total of nine adults, one infant and one cat are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. Efforts are ongoing to locate the residents of the remaining three units.”
According to MFR, investigators are working to determine the origin and cause of the blaze.
