FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A woman who was a passenger in a pest control truck was airlifted to a hospital Friday morning after the driver crashed the truck into a tree in Fort Lauderdale.

The crash was reported at about 6:22 a.m. in the 6300 block of North Andrews Avenue.

According to Fort Lauderdale police Sgt. Patrick O’Brien, a woman who was a passenger in the Petri Pest Control truck had to be extricated by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue and was then airlifted by BSO Air Rescue to North Broward Hospital.

The woman’s condition has not yet been released. Coworkers of the driver told Local 10’s Jolena Esperto that he sustained some cuts in the crash but appears to be OK.

Much of the roadway near the scene was shut down by Fort Lauderdale police as they investigated the cause of the collision.

O’Brien said the crash remains under investigation.

The driver and passenger’s identities have not yet been released.
