Man arrested after wrong-way driving leads to drug, gun seizure in Plantation, cops say

Markendy Similien (PPD, BSO)

PLANTATION, Fla. — A 22-year-old man was arrested last week after police say his wrong-way driving led to the discovery of more than two pounds of marijuana, molly, and a loaded rifle in his vehicle.

Plantation police said on Dec. 26, officers spotted the driver, Markendy Similien, near the 4600 block of Northwest 10th Court and noticed he was attempting to hide something under the front seat. Officers then saw a baggie of marijuana.

Similien admitted to having marijuana in the car. A subsequent search revealed the bag he tried to conceal contained over two pounds of marijuana, several rocks of MDMA, also known as Molly, and a loaded rifle, police said.

Jail records show Similien was arrested and faces multiple charges, including possession of cannabis with intent to sell, possession of MDMA, illegal use or display of a firearm during a felony, driving on the wrong side of the road and failure to carry a driver’s license.

His bond information was not immediately available.
