FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Police have arrested a woman in connection with a shooting that they said left a man wounded Tuesday morning at a Fort Lauderdale hotel.
Fort Lauderdale police said Keana Mason, 26, was arrested and faces one count of aggravated domestic battery with a deadly weapon. They said Mason is the sister of the male shooting victim.

Officers responded about 9:50 a.m. to a report of a person shot at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott North, located at 6550 N. Andrews Ave., near Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Police said officers rendered medical aid until Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue crews were able to safely enter the scene and take over care. The victim was transported as a trauma alert to Broward Health Medical Center. His condition was not immediately known.
A hotel guest who asked not to be identified told Local 10 News that he contacted police after seeing a man who appeared to have been shot near the pool area.
The hotel was placed on a temporary lockdown following the shooting, but it has since been lifted. Police have not released a motive at this time.
Tuesday’s incident is the second reported shooting in Fort Lauderdale in the past two days. On Monday, police detained a woman for questioning after they said she allegedly shot a man near a bus bench on Northwest Ninth Street.
As of Wednesday, Mason was being held without bond at the Broward Main Jail. She was also prohibited from possessing any weapons or ammunution, barred from returning to the hotel, and ordered by a judge to undergo a mental health evaluation.
