WESTON, Fla. — The Broward Sheriff’s Office is searching for the person who may have tried to kidnap a young female in Weston, city officials confirmed Monday morning.
According to officials, the alleged kidnapping attempt was reported shortly before 7 a.m. in the area of Bonaventure Boulevard and Sagemont Way, near the private Sagemont Preparatory School.
A school security guard, however, told Local 10 News that the child does not attend the school.
Officials said deputies are looking for a dark blue minivan – possibly a Honda or Hyundai – that is being driven by a male who is “masked and hooded.”
While BSO confirmed that the incident is still under investigation, they said “there is no threat to the community.”
Officials urged anyone who spots the vehicle and driver to call 911.
