Navy member accused of exchanging lewd images with 11-year-old Hialeah Gardens girl

HIALEAH GARDENS, Fla. — A U.S. Navy member based in the Panhandle was extradited to South Florida on Thursday to face 19 serious charges after police said he exchanged explicit images with an 11-year-old girl he met through an online application.

Ian Christopher Fierro, 19, is accused of pretending to be 16 on the app Wizz and messaged with the Hialeah Gardens girl, who initially claimed to be 13, the app’s minimum usage age.

Police said they “quickly” moved the conversations to iMessage and Fierro and the girl exchanged explicit texts and photos even after she admitted to being 11.

According to an arrest warrant, Fierro at one point asked the girl if she wanted to “see his ‘weewee’” and sent a photo of his penis after she said yes.

The warrant states that he asked the girl at one point, “Would you let me rape you?”

Authorities said the girl’s mother reported the chats to Hialeah Gardens police on Sept. 14 after finding out what was happening.

The case was then turned over to a Miami Police Department detective working on behalf of the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office’s Human Trafficking Task Force.

Investigators said they obtained a search warrant and went to Fierro’s base ― Naval Air Station Pensacola ― to interview him at an office of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.

Authorities said he made multiple admissions, which were redacted from the warrant.

A search of his phone not only revealed explicit images of the 11-year-old, but several other files of child sexual abuse material, police said.

One of those files showed a young girl who appeared to be 2 or younger being sexually abused, according to the warrant.

Records show Fierro was jailed in Escambia County, then extradited to Miami-Dade to face charges including those related to the possession of child sexual abuse material, using a computer for lewd and lascivious exhibition and online child solicitation.

Local 10 News has contacted representatives for NAS Pensacola seeking comment on and details about Fierro’s rank and status within the Navy. We had not heard back as of publication.

As of Friday morning, Fierro was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $370,000 bond.
