According to police, the shooting occurred inside a home in the Sailboat Cove community, at the corner of Northwest 17th Avenue and 143rd Street.

Arrest reports for the suspects state that the victims were found in two separate bedrooms.

Police said one of the victims was shot after he heard a knock on the front door and opened it.

Authorities said the second victim fled to the second floor of the home and yelled out for a relative to call 911.

According to the reports, one victim was shot in the face, buttocks, groin and shin while the other was shot twice in the right leg above the knee and once in the left leg above the knee.

Police said a witness reported that he heard a knock at the door and saw a masked male at the front door when the first victim opened it, and said he then saw the flash of a gun.

The witness ran to safety and was not injured, authorities said.

According to the arrest reports, the suspects were arrested after police pulled over a green Chevrolet Impala that was fleeing from the complex at a high rate of speed.

Police said both victims, who were airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, were initially listed in critical but stable condition, but are showing signs of improvement.

A third victim was evaluated at the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel but declined to be transported to the hospital, police said.

Police said the witness has been “cooperating with investigators and providing valuable information to aid the case.”

A motive for the shooting remains unclear.

“The Opa-locka Police Department commends the swift actions of its officers, whose collaboration with the CID was instrumental in bringing about a rapid resolution of this incident,” the police department said in a statement Wednesday. “The Opa-locka Police Department remains committed to serving and protecting the residents of Opa-locka. The safety and well-being of community remains a top priority and we are committed to ensuring a comprehensive investigation.”
