MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A Miami Gardens man is facing felony charges for a shooting in northwest Miami-Dade late last year.
The shooting occurred back on Dec. 8 in the area of Northwest 46th Street and 29th Avenue, in the unincorporated Brownsville area.
According to deputies, a man later identified as John Saint Cloud, 47, parked his silver Dodge Durango in the area and waited for the victim to walk over to his truck.
After she got into Saint Cloud’s pickup, deputies said the two got into an argument “due to the disagreement (over) sexual services and (the) price to be paid.”
Deputies said Saint Cloud then demanded the victim perform a sex act, which she refused to do for free, and she instead got out of the truck and started walking away.
As the victim walked away, an arrest report states that Saint Cloud got out of his truck and pulled a gun out of his waistband and racked it, causing the victim to turn around and face him. That’s when deputies said Saint Cloud opened fire, striking the victim in her left leg, before getting back in his truck and taking off.
She fled to a nearby U-Gas located at 4700 NW 27th Ave. and called the police, authorities said.
As detectives began investigating the incident, they said they were able to obtain surveillance footage showing part of what happened, including the “distinctive clothing” that Saint Cloud was wearing.
Detectives said they were able to identify Saint Cloud’s vehicle, and on Tuesday, deputies conducted a traffic stop of the Durango with Saint Cloud driving it.
According to deputies, the execution of a search warrant at Saint Cloud’s home led to investigators locating the clothing he was wearing the night of the shooting, as well as a 9mm Glock handgun that came back as a match for a shell casing that was found at the shooting scene.
Deputies learned that Saint Cloud is a felon with an April 1996 armed robbery conviction in Miami-Dade County. He’s also a convicted felon in Tennessee, deputies said.
Saint Cloud was behind bars at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on separate charges, and he’s now facing additional charges of attempted first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His blond is listed as “to be set” on the new charges.
