MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A Miami-Dade man is facing a second-degree murder charge after deputies said he stabbed his roommate to death late last year at a home in the county’s Intracoastal District.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched just after 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 6, 2025, to a home near the 15000 block of Fifth Court, just east of Northeast Sixth Avenue, after a reported stabbing.

Deputies encountered the suspect, 26-year-old Geo Manuel Alfonso, outside the home and said that he tried to prevent them and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews from entering to help the victim.

Investigators said Alfonso also punched a deputy as they attempted to get past him. He was then tased and taken into custody.

Deputies later found the victim inside the home with two stab wounds to the chest.

According to Alfonso’s arrest report, the victim made statements identifying Alfonso as the attacker. Deputies confirmed that the victim was transported to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:51 p.m.

An autopsy conducted the next day by the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office determined the victim died from sharp force injuries to the torso and ruled the death a homicide.

Investigators said surveillance video from inside the home shows the victim walking downstairs wearing a bloodied shirt, saying he had been stabbed and asking someone to call 911, while Alfonso followed him holding a knife and telling him to be quiet.

They said Alfonso was also seen attempting to clean blood from the floor before fleeing outside as emergency vehicles approached.

The report stated that Alfonso, the victim, and a witness were roommates at an independent living facility. A witness told deputies the victim was stabbed without provocation while lying in bed.

A motive for the stabbing is unknown at this time.

Jail records show Alfonso is facing one count each of second-degree murder with a weapon and battery on a law enforcement officer. He invoked his right to an attorney while being questioned by detectives.

As of Thursday, he was being held at the Miami-Dade County Pre-Trial Detention Center, where his bond was listed as “to be set.”
