MIAMI — A man is in serious condition from a gunshot wound as police work to figure out what led to the shooting.
The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. Monday off Northwest 17th Avenue and 52nd Street in Miami’s Liberty City neighborhood.
According to Miami police, a 52-year-old man was shot and rushed to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
A family who lives in the area told Local 10’s Byron Tollefson they heard several gunshots.
“All of a sudden, when I came out and everything was roped off and I’m like, ‘what the heck is going on?’” said the woman. “This doesn’t happen here. We have crime watch and everything. Nothing ever happens here.”
Two other neighbors said they heard four shots.
At the scene, a bullet hole was visible on the front windshield of a gray Chevrolet sedan that appeared to be a focus of the investigation, with a green evidence marker on top.
Authorities have not provided any information on the circumstances that led up to the shooting or whether they are seeking any suspects or persons of interest.
