FLORIDA CITY, Fla. — Police have arrested a fourth suspect in connection with the armed robbery of University of Miami defensive back Bryce Fitzgerald during a home invasion at an Airbnb earlier this month in Florida City.
Florida City police said Leon Qunorris Keith, 18, was taken into custody Tuesday and faces one count of armed robbery with a firearm and home invasion. Keith is the fourth person arrested in the case.
The robbery occurred shortly after midnight on Jan. 10 at a rental home in the 500 block of Northwest Seventh Street, where Fitzgerald was attending a birthday party.
According to an arrest report, Fitzgerald arrived wearing two bracelets and a necklace and spent time socializing with friends before leaving briefly to get food.
Investigators said the robbery was coordinated.
After returning to the Airbnb, Fitzgerald said the lights went out and three masked men dressed in black entered the home.
The report stated that one of the suspects pressed a rifle to Fitzgerald’s head, struck him in the leg, and stole his necklace and bracelets, which were valued at approximately $53,000.
Detectives said Fitzgerald eventually escaped by fleeing through a sliding glass door and jumping a fence.
They said prior to the robbery, some of the suspects had met with co-conspirators outside the property and that they fled together in a vehicle afterward.
Surveillance footage from a nearby gas station helped investigators identify the fourth suspect, Keith, who was later located and interviewed by police and FBI agents.
Police previously arrested Terrell Jermaine Lipscomb Jr.,19, Rashiem Damadre Lipscomb, 20, and Javarius Lamar Wright Jr., 17, in connection with the robbery.
Jail records show Leon Keith and Terrell Jermaine Lipscomb Jr. are being held without bond on charges of armed robbery with home invasion. Keith is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, while Lipscomb is at the Metrowest Detention Center. Rashiem Damadre Lipscomb and Javarius Wright Jr. were no longer listed as inmates as of Wednesday morning.
Investigators said the suspects were linked to the crime through a combination of witness identification, surveillance footage, and investigative interviews, and the probe remains active.
All of the suspects were ordered by a judge to stay away from Fitzgerald.
Police did not release additional details about the suspects’ possible motives or whether more arrests are expected.
