Gervonta Davis bonds out of jail after arrest in Miami

MIAMI — There was no special treatment this time for professional boxer Gervonta Davis.

The 31-year-old, known as “Tank,” is out on a $16,000 bond after spending Wednesday night in a Miami-Dade County jail, facing charges of kidnapping, attempted false imprisonment and battery.

U.S. Marshals arrested Davis Wednesday in Miami’s Design District, about two weeks after Miami Gardens police issued an arrest warrant for the undefeated boxer.

According to police, Davis attacked a woman he previously had an intimate relationship with at a Miami strip club where she also works.

In court documents, the victim told investigators Davis grabbed her by the back of the head, pulled her hair with one hand and grabbed her throat with the other.

She said he forcefully escorted her down a stairway and toward a parking garage while maintaining his grip.

Davis has a history of domestic violence-related allegations.

In 2020, video surfaced showing him grabbing his then-girlfriend by the throat during a basketball game.

In 2022, Local 10 was there when Davis bonded out of a Broward County jail after allegedly striking an ex-girlfriend in the face.

Then, in July of 2025, he was released from the Miami-Dade County jail after police said he hit the mother of his child in the back of the head.

The current victim’s attorney, Richard Wolfe, told Local 10 News there is video evidence from the gentlemen’s club that he says supports his client’s claims.

Wolfe said they are seeking punitive damages in a related civil case, adding that “given his extreme violence toward women, the court will be receptive of the punitive damages.”

When asked how much money his client is seeking, Wolfe said it is too early to determine an amount.

A judge ordered Davis to have no contact with the victim and to stay away from her as the case moves forward.
