MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Authorities in Miami-Dade County have arrested two individuals in connection to the murder of a missing man.
Now in custody are Alfredo Carballo Gonzalez, 33, and his girlfriend, Ariely Alvarez Cabrera, 27, both of whom were taken into custody by authorities in Mexico.
According to deputies, an investigation into a missing man from Miami-Dade County led authorities to discover that man, Daylon Fleitas Gonzalez, 37, had met with the suspect, Carballo Gonzalez, on Aug. 3, 2025, in the area of Northwest 106th Street and 95th Avenue in Medley.
The meeting, deputies said, was because Carballo Gonzalez owed Fleitas Gonzalez $10,000.
Authorities said Carballo Gonzalez was seen entering Fleitas Gonzalez’s truck when an altercation took place, after which Carballo Gonzalez was seen placing a recycling bin in the back of Fleitas Gonzalez’s truck and driving away while being followed by an additional vehicle that investigators determined was being driven by Cabrera.
Five days later on Aug. 8, homicide detectives said they located Fleitas Gonzalez’s truck in southwest Miami-Dade, and after canvassing the area, found his lifeless body stuffed inside the recycling bin that had previously been in his truck bed along with additional pieces of evidence.
Detectives began an active search for the suspects, who deputies said had a 5-month-old baby with them.
Cabrera was taken into custody in Mexico in early September and has since been extradited back to South Florida.
Investigators said the baby was also recovered in good health and is safely back in Miami-Dade County.
On Tuesday, deputies said Gonzalez was apprehended by Mexican authorities and extradited to Miami. Jail records show he is facing charges of second-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence.
Cabrera is also facing a tampering with physical evidence charge, as well as a charge of accessory after the fact.
Neither suspect was listed among Miami-Dade County inmates as of Thursday morning.
