LAUDERHILL, Fla. — Lauderhill police are investigating a shooting that they said occurred Friday afternoon at the Swap Shop.

Officers were called to the popular flea market, located at 3291 W. Sunrise Blvd., around 4 p.m., where men were involved in an argument that escalated into a fight.

Police said during the struggle, the men fought over a gun, which discharged and struck one of them in the leg.

They said the wounded man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.

Both men involved have been identified and no suspect has been identified at this time, according to investigators. Authorities added that there is no ongoing threat to nearby businesses, patrons, or the public.

Sky 10 flew over the scene, where there was a heavy police presence in the area.

Detectives with the Lauderhill Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division are handling the case.
