MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Two men were arrested on Thursday after deputies said surveillance cameras captured them stealing dumbbells from a gym at a Miami-Dade apartment complex earlier this month.
Deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office identified the suspects as Luis Miguel Presiga, 35, and Ivan Carracedo, who turns 35 on Saturday.
Deputies said the theft occurred around 10:40 p.m. Jan. 13 at the Resia Apartment Complex near the 9700 block of Southwest 152nd Street in the Richmond Heights area, according to an arrest report.
They said the apartment complex’s surveillance system showed the men removing dumbbells from the gym and loading them into a silver Ford F-150.
Management staff identified Presiga as a resident of the complex, and the general manager confirmed his identity using a photograph, the report stated.
Investigators determined the truck was registered to Carracedo.
The report states that the two men have an ongoing relationship and have previously filed police reports against each other, including a case in which Carracedo obtained a temporary injunction against Presiga.
Both men were taken into custody Thursday after deputies were dispatched to the complex following a report of a person pointing a gun at another individual inside a silver Ford F-150, police said.
Jail records show Presiga and Carracedo are both facing one count each of third-degree grand theft.
As of Friday morning, both men were being held on a $2,500 bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
