MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — An 18-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon following a fight at a Miami Gardens high school, authorities confirmed.
Miami-Dade Schools Police said the incident happened around 2:20 p.m. at Carol City Senior High School, located at 3301 Miami Gardens Dr.
According to an arrest report, Alex Lewis was involved in a brawl on campus when a school security guard attempted to detain him.
Police said Lewis broke free from the guard and then “intentionally and aggressively” spat in the guard’s face after being stopped from continuing the fight.
They said Lewis was then taken into custody.
Jail records show he is facing one count of battery on a school employee or investigator.
As of Friday morning, Lewis was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond was listed at $5,000.
No further details about what led to the brawl were immediately released.
