PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — Police responded to reports of a bomb threat Wednesday afternoon at Somerset Academy North in Pembroke Pines, prompting evacuations and relocations for students still on campus.
Pembroke Pines police said officers were conducting a thorough search of the school at 20803 Johnson St. after receiving a call to the department’s non-emergency line.
Authorities said school dismissal was underway at the time of the threat.
Students who remained on campus were evacuated and transported to West Broward High School or Rose Price Park, where parents were directed to pick them up, police said.
The bomb threat comes just hours after two schools in Miami-Dade were given an “all clear” after being placed on lockdown following a hoax call of an armed suspect on the campus of Christopher Columbus High School.
No other details about the bomb threat were immediately released.
