The aggravated animal abuse case occurred around 5 p.m. Jan. 18 at a home in the 300 block of Southwest Eighth Avenue.

Police said a homeowner contacted officers after reviewing surveillance footage that showed a boy cornering and then stomping a wild duck to death on the property.

Officers who responded confirmed the incident and obtained the video as evidence.

Broward County Animal Care removed the duck’s carcass from the side of the home.

Police said the boy seen in the video, along with a parent, have been located following information provided by the public through social media.

Authorities said the case has allowed police to intervene with assistance from the Florida Department of Children and Families.
