MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — A drive-thru at a Miami Gardens Taco Bell erupted into chaos Tuesday afternoon when police said a customer grabbed a computer monitor and damaged a card reader before fleeing.

According to Miami Gardens police, officers were dispatched at about 4:20 p.m. to the Taco Bell at 17950 NW 27 Ave. following a strong-arm robbery report.

The restaurant manager told investigators that a silver vehicle with two occupants pulled up to the drive-thru.

A male passenger initially approached the window requesting additional food but police said he could not pay. After that brief exchange, he purchased his order and returned to the car.

They said the female driver, 26-year-old Deborah Gloria Johnson, remained in the drive-thru, requesting sauce and napkins, and caused a disturbance for other customers.

When the manager asked her to leave, police said Johnson opened the drive-thru window, leaned halfway inside, and grabbed a computer monitor, dropping and cracking it.

She also slapped a card reader off the counter before returning to the vehicle and fleeing westbound behind the plaza, according to an arrest report.

Detectives reviewed surveillance video that captured the incident.

They said a silver Nissan Altima with visible damage and no license plate was later located and linked to Johnson.

Police said Johnson was also previously seen on video at a nearby McDonald’s punching a window while wearing the same clothing as during the Taco Bell incident.

Jail records show she is facing one count of attempted burglary of an occupied structure and criminal mischief.

While appearing in bond court, a judge said Johnson “is going after these people working at fast food restaurants” when reviewing her case.

As of Thursday afternoon, she was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where her bond was listed at $3,000. She was also ordered to stay away from the Taco Bell.
