The attack happened just after 6 p.m. at the restaurant, located at 900 Ocean Drive on South Beach.

Officers said they were flagged down by the manager, who reported that Trevor Michael Martin, who appeared to be drunk inside the restaurant, had punched him in the face.

The manager told police that he asked Martin, of Godfrey, Illinois, to leave due to his level of intoxication and was helping escort him out when Martin struck him, according to the report.

Police said the victim was bleeding from the mouth and suffered a small cut to his gums.

Officers located Martin a short time later near 801 Collins Ave., where he was detained.

While being escorted to a cruiser, they said Martin kicked an officer in the shin.

After he was taken to Miami Beach police headquarters, officers attempted to allow Martin to use the restroom, but police said that attempt was canceled after he became aggressive by tensing his arms and stating that he was going to “become violent.”

They said Martin then resisted officers, moved aggressively toward one officer’s face, and kicked another officer in the thigh.

The report stated that during the struggle with police, Martin attempted to headbutt an officer and later kicked at a crime scene technician, striking her camera and causing it to hit her in the jaw.

Officers noted Martin appeared unsteady on his feet and had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath before he was taken into custody.

Jail records show Martin is facing one count each of battery on a police officer, assault on a law enforcement officer, battery, and disorderly conduct at an establishment.

As of Friday afternoon, he was being held on a $7,100 bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Police said they obtained surveillance video from the restaurant that will be reviewed at a later time.
