Walking trail in Hollywood dedicated to honor MSD victim Chris Hixon

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — A dedication was held Wednesday to honor the life of Chris Hixon, who was one of the 17 people killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas Senior High School in February of 2018.

He was the school’s athletic director.

“I’m sure he’s just so happy to be looking down that his legacy and his memory will go on forever,” said Debbi Hixon, Chris’s wife.

Dozens gathered at Stan Goldman Memorial Park in Hollywood where a new trail was named in Hixon’s honor.

“It’s really important for us that we don’t just remember how he was taken from us, but how he lived in this community,” said Debbi Hixon.

Chris Hixon was a U.S. Navy veteran who raised his family in the city of Hollywood.

He’s remembered as a hero who ran toward danger on that February 2018 day.
