HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. — Hallandale Beach police responded to a fight involving 15 to 20 people at the Amsterdam Night Club while working an off-duty detail early Thursday morning, authorities confirmed.
Police said they observed an “active physical altercation” when they arrived at the nightclub at 100 S. Federal Hwy.
They said one individual was seen trying to violently strike another person who was on the ground. Police then deployed department-issued Tasers to stop the attack, which was effective.
During the disturbance, another person fell on broken glass and suffered a cut.
Investigators said that individual was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. A second individual was also taken to a hospital for evaluation after falling during the chaos. He was treated and released.
Several people involved in the fight fled before officers could establish control.
Authorities said two individuals were arrested on charges of resisting arrest without violence.
They said one victim sustained a head injury earlier in the altercation but declined to cooperate and signed a waiver of prosecution.
The incident remains under investigation.
Anyone with information or video is asked to contact Hallandale Beach police at 954-457-1400 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
