FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A driver crashed his vehicle into the valet stand outside a popular restaurant in Fort Lauderdale Monday morning, breaking the gas line, first responders said.
According to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue officials, the crash occurred at about 8 a.m. outside Anthony’s Runway 84, located at 330 W. State Road 84.
First responders said the driver called 911 after crashing outside the Italian restaurant and said he smelled gas.
They then discovered the driver’s vehicle had broken the gas line.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue’s hazmat team also responded to the scene and the leak was capped after about 40 minutes, FLFR said.
The cause of the collision is under investigation. No damage was reported to the building.
