MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 48-year-old man was arrested on Valentine’s Day after he killed a cow in southwest Miami-Dade, authorities said.
According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the area of 20090 SW 177th Ave. at about 2 p.m. Saturday about a cow being slaughtered.
When deputies arrived, they found the suspect, Ismael Moreno Serrano, of Miami, and three witnesses, authorities said.
Deputies said the dead cow’s remains were found on the bed of a truck. Detectives could not find any signs of a gunshot wound, and it’s unclear how the cow was killed, but they noted in the arrest report that Moreno Serrano’s alleged actions caused the “cruel death or excessive or repeated infliction of unnecessary pain or suffering” of the cow.
According to the report, Moreno Serrano did provide a statement to detectives, however that statement was redacted from the publicly released report.
He was arrested on a charge of animal cruelty with the intent to injure or kill.
As of Tuesday afternoon, he was no longer appearing in the online jail database.
