MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A woman identified Aaron Byrd as a “gorilla pimp,” a sex trafficker who used violence and intimidation to control his victims, according to police.
Byrd, 34, was at the Metrowest Detention Center without bond on Monday near Doral after detectives accused him of human trafficking, records showed.
Byrd “was still operating his criminal enterprise” while under arrest for a Miami Beach human trafficking case last year, according to police.
Byrd victimized the women in Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Alabama, Louisiana, Illinois, and Mississippi, according to police.
“The monies would not be given to the [victims] and anytime any of the [victims] would receive money [it] would be for clothes to work, heels, or hair,” a police officer wrote, according to the arrest report.
Detectives identified seven victims who had given the proceeds of their sex work to Byrd in the past year, according to a police report.
“Byrd would direct them to share their locations with him and post Byrd Gang on their social media handles to claim ownership,” a police officer wrote, according to the arrest report.

Detectives identified and arrested “Byrd Gang” members Chloe Wilson and Bria Jones on March 19 at 1775 West Okeechobee Road in Hialeah, records show.
Jones, 33, had been under Byrd’s control since 2024, and Wilson, 20, since last year. They were among the women who lived with Byrd in Houston, Texas.
Jones said, “her role within the organization is to engage in prostitution, clean and take care” of children, whose mothers are Byrd’s sex trafficking victims, according to the arrest report.
The victim’s daily quota ranged from $500 to $1000 were forwarded to Byrd “via cash, cash app, or Apple pay,” according to police.
Byrd had a warrant for his arrest in Texas when Miami Beach police officers suspected he had been committing crimes in the city since 2023, records show.
Byrd was arrested on Dec. 19 in Allapattah and re-arrested on March 20 at the MWDC, according to court records.
In Miami-Dade County, Byrd had a pending case and a warrant case.
In the pending case, Byrd faced three charges: Racketeering, money laundering, and deriving support from the proceeds of prostitution. His bond was $17,500. Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Milton Hirsch was presiding over the case.
The warrant case was for human trafficking, human trafficking by coercion for commercial sexual activity, deriving support from the proceeds of prostitution, and transporting, directing, or taking someone to a location specifically for prostitution.
Wilson was 19 years old when Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested her on Dec. 4 in Gladeview.
Prosecutors charged her with obstructing a highway and loitering and prowling during suspected street-level prostitution. Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Betsy Alvarez-Zane is presiding over the case.
After Miami Beach police officers arrested Wilson and Jones on March 19, prosecutors filed cases against them for racketeering and money laundering on March 20. Their bond was $7,500 each. Hirsch is also presiding over their cases.
