FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A 36-year-old Georgia man was at the Broward County Main Jail on Monday in Fort Lauderdale, accused of threatening to kill a man over gambling money.
Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested William Rowlett, of Atlanta, on Thursday afternoon near Northeast 13 Court and Garfield Street in Hollywood.
“You are dead man: Steal my money I am going to kill you dog. I am going to stab you 17 times until you have no blood left. You won’t even see it coming. And Yes I just threatened your kids,” Rowlett wrote in a text message, according to a BSO deputy’s arrest report.
Rowlett also allegedly told the victim that he would slit his throat and stab him 13 times so he would bleed to death, according to the deputy’s report.
“Rowlett became upset after the victim refused to provide him with money to go to the Hollywood Casino to gamble,” a deputy wrote, according to the report.
Broward prosecutors filed a case against Rowlett on Friday on a second-degree felony charge of intimidation-written threat to kill or injure. His bond is $10,000.
Broward County Circuit Judge Michael Ian Rothschild was set to preside over the case.
