Biden meets with Singapore prime minister to discuss Russia, China

WASHINGTON – U.S. President Joe Biden met with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong for bilateral talks on Tuesday at the White House.

Biden and Lee discussed the U.S. Indo-Pacific strategy, the Russia-Ukraine war, North Korea, Myanmar, and China.

“We both urge North Korea to refrain from further provocations and return to the negotiating table,” Biden said.

Biden also had a call with French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Biden said he is waiting to see the results of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine negotiations in Turkey.

“The world should be prepared for a major offensive against other areas of Ukraine,” said Kate Bedingfield, the White House communications director.

Biden plans to host the Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit this spring.
