DAVIE, Fla. — Protesters lined up on Thursday afternoon along University Drive in Davie to join the “Good Trouble Lives On” demonstrations.
A network of nonprofit organizations nationwide helped to organize demonstrations in honor of the late John Lewis’s call for activism.
Some protesters outside of Nova Southeastern University at Southwest 33rd Street remembered Lewis for his work with Martin Luther King Jr.
Lewis was just 25 when he suffered a skull fracture and survived Bloody Sunday after marching across the Edmund Pettus Bridge, on March 7, 1965, in Selma.
Others remembered Lewis for his service in Congress from Jan. 3, 1987, until he died of pancreatic cancer on July 17, 2020, in Atlanta. He was 80.
