MIAMI — Two teens have been charged in connection with a drive-by shooting in southwest Miami-Dade that left a 15-year-old boy wounded.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said 16-year-old Adrian Negron Vega and 17-year-old Camilo Buritica are accused in the shooting, which happened Wednesday near Southwest 152nd Avenue and Southwest 80th Street.
According to an arrest report obtained by Local 10 News, Buritica and Negron Vega were inside a black Honda Civic when a dash camera captured them arguing with the victim and another teen.
The report states that shortly after the confrontation, the front passenger is seen extending his arm out of the window while holding a black firearm and firing several shots before the car sped away.
Investigators said Buritica confessed to driving the Civic. During questioning, he told detectives that Negron Vega was the one who fired the shots.
Negron Vega, however, told investigators he was home at the time of the shooting and denied any involvement.
The victim, identified as Eydam Ramos, was shot in the right shoulder and left ankle. He is recovering from his injuries.
“This was a terrible case,” said Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz. “Everytime a juvenile is victimized by violence or gunfire, it’s terrible.”
Neighbors expressed fear to Local 10 News after hearing about the shooting.
“You don’t usually dont hear about that in this area a teenager carrying a gun or anything like that,” said Jose Sanchez, who lives nearby. “It’s sad.”
Both teens face charges of attempted second-degree murder and aggravated assault with a firearm. Negron Vega faces additional charges of discharging a firearm from a vehicle, improper exhibition of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a minor.
