Amanda’s Rice Krispie Treats

Brown Butter Rice Krispie Treats

6 tablespoons butter, plus extra for buttering the pan

12 cups miniature marshmallows, divided

12 cups Rice Krispies cereal

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

splash of your favorite bourbon

coarse sea salt

Butter the bottom and sides of a 9 X 13 pan.

Brown the 6 tablespoons butter in a large Dutch oven. Once there are brown specs and it smells nutty, add in the marshmallows. Melt over low heat, stirring occasionally. And in the vanilla and bourbon, season with a pinch of sea salt. If your pan is large enough, mix with the cereal and the reserved 2 cups of marshmallows in the pan. If needed, transfer the mixture to a large bowl to mix. Mix until everything is well coated. Transfer to your prepared pan. Use the back of a spoon or a spatula to press down and flatten the cereal. Sprinkle the top with sea salt. Let cool before cutting into squares.
