MIAMI — Miami Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck said he’s eager for the chance to open the season at home when his No. 10 ranked team squares off against the No. 6 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday.
“It’s an opportunity that you don’t get many of them, right?” Beck told Local 10 News on Wednesday. “I mean, guaranteed we have 12 of these opportunities and you work the rest of the year for those 12 opportunities.”
Beck said playing in front of a packed stadium makes the opener even more special.
“So you never take them for granted no matter who the opponent is, and we’re starting it out at home, which is gonna be dope, to, you know, be able to go out there and play in front of all those fans and hard rock and, you know, get to experience that,” Beck said. “So I’m, I’m, I’m really looking forward to it.”
The Week 1 matchup will mark the 28th meeting between the two storied programs.
Notre Dame leads the all-time series 18-8-1, though the Fighting Irish have not won in Miami since 1977. Since 1980, the rivalry has been evenly split at 7-7 and the Hurricanes won the last meeting in 2017 by a score of 41-8.
