MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Following their 27-24 victory against then-No. 6 Notre Dame on Sunday night at Hard Rock Stadium, the Miami Hurricanes have officially cracked the top 5 of the AP poll entering Week 2.

The Hurricanes moved up five spots to No. 5 heading into their Week 2 matchup against Bethune-Cookman on Sept. 6 at Hard Rock Stadium.

Miami’s ranking at No. 5 in the Week 2 AP poll is its highest Week 2 ranking since 2004, when it was also ranked 5th.

Sunday’s three-point win also marked the first time Miami head coach Mario Cristobal’s team has beaten a top-10 opponent since 2017 – with Notre Dame being the opponent that night.

“It’s just an unbelievable night,” Cristobal said Sunday after the Hurricanes snapped an eight-game losing streak against top-10 opponents.

The Hurricanes join the Florida Gators (No. 13) and the Florida State Seminoles (No. 14) as the other Florida schools in the Top 25.
