BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — A former defensive tackle for the Miami Hurricanes has been arrested in Broward County, according to jail records obtained by Local 10 on Friday.

Courtel Tarzhion Jenkins, 29, was booked Thursday on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and driving while his license was suspended for a second offense, records show.

During his bond hearing Friday morning, a judge discussed whether there was probable cause related to a dispute between Jenkins and the victim. The case was reset for Saturday.

Jenkins played for the Hurricanes from 2014 to 2016 and had 54 tackles, 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble in his career.

No additional details about the alleged incident were immediately released.

Local 10 has requested Jenkins’ arrest report from the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

As of Friday afternoon, he was being held without bond at the Broward Main Jail.
