MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The Miami Dolphins have released star wide receiver Tyreek Hill, the team confirmed Monday.

Hill, an eight-time pro-bowler who turns 32 on March 1, is recovering from a dislocated knee and torn ACL.

Hill moved into seventh place on the Dolphins’ all-time receiving yards list with 4,733 yards. However, a knee injury he suffered against the New York Jets on Sept. 29, 2025, sidelined him for the remainder of the season.

He will now become an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career.

Monday afternoon, Hill posted a statement on his Facebook page, that read, in part:

“From the bottom of my hear, Thank You to the entire Miami Dolphins organization, my teammates, the staff, and most importantly, Fins Nation, for an unforgettable 4 years.”

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Hill’s release will save Miami $22.8 million against the salary cap.

He was voted the NFL’s No. 1 player by his peers in 2024 — becoming the first wide receiver to earn the top spot — but fell to No. 47 in the 2025 rankings.

Despite being one of the NFL’s highest-paid receivers at one point, Hill’s time in South Florida was not without controversy.

Local 10 News obtained surveillance video from South Florida radio host Andy Slater that appeared to show Hill slapping a man in the back of the head at Haulover Marina back in June 2023.

The NFL later announced that no action would be taken against Hill following that dispute, and both parties “settled their differences.”

In January 2024, a fire broke out at Hill’s multi-million-dollar home in Southwest Ranches. No injuries were reported.

In September 2024, Hill made headlines when a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy got into a physical altercation with the wide receiver and detained him during a traffic stop outside Hard Rock Stadium just hours before Miami was set to play the Jacksonville Jaguars in their season opener.

Deputy Danny Torres, a 27-year veteran with a checkered history, was placed on administrative duty after body camera footage showed his actions during the pregame encounter.

Hill was also involved in a divorce dispute with his estranged wife, Keeta Hill, which included a reported domestic violence incident in Sunny Isles Beach.

Hill will now turn his attention to rehab as he works to get back to elite form on the field.

In other team news, Miami is expected to release edge rusher Bradley Chubb. The also parted ways with wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, and right guard James Daniels.
