MIAMI — This Sunday at 8 p.m., right after our Calle Ocho special, Local 10 will rebroadcast the Miami Heat game where Bam Adebayo scored a record-breaking 83 points against the Washington Wizards — the second-highest single-game total in NBA history.
Adebayo on Tuesday surpassed his idol, Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, who scored 81 points in a game on Jan. 22, 2006, against the Toronto Raptors, and fell short of Wilt Chamberlain’s legendary 100-point performance on March 2, 1962.
Adebayo’s 31 points in the first quarter set a new franchise record.
Heat fans lined up at the team store at the Kaseya Center Wednesday morning to grab an Adebayo jersey, on sale for $83 for a limited time.
The team later posted a photo of Adebayo recreating Chamberlain’s famous locker room pose, holding a paper with his 83 points.
