MIAMI — Miami Heat President Pat Riley gave his annual State of the Team address on Monday.

The Heat were knocked out in the play-in game by Charlotte, missing the Playoffs for the first time since 2019.

Riley said he’s not going to step aside, resign, or retire.

Riley added, “I want another parade down Biscayne Boulevard.”

If people think the Heat are going to tank moving forward, Riley said, “We’re always going to try to win. We’re not going to apologize for it. If we’re fighting for the final spot in the play-in, we will fight until our last breath.”

Yes, the Heat President did say he’s frustrated by where the Heat are at, saying “I’m really pissed. I’m disappointed, disgruntled.”

Riley also said, “I’m not going to apologize for being a play-in team.”

At the trade deadline, the Heat were not going to trade assets away, because they were competing for a playoff spot.

Riley acknowledged that star Bam Adebayo was frustrated with where the Heat are at.

Riley said he’s dealt with similar frustration from star players before.

Overall, Riley said “We’re just not good enough. We’re not happy with it.”

Riley said the team has flexibility to improve the roster.
