MIAMI — The Miami Marlins took a significant hit to their pitching depth after top prospect Robby Snelling was placed on the 60-day injured list following elbow discomfort that surfaced after his Major League debut.

Multiple reports indicate Snelling is expected to undergo Tommy John surgery, an operation that typically requires 12–18 months of recovery for pitchers.

That timeline would sideline him for the remainder of this season and likely a substantial portion of next year as well.
