MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — After a FIFA World Cup fan invasion of about 50,000 Scots in Boston, a group of Tartan Army fans in kilts arrived on Saturday at Miami International Airport.

They had tested Boston pubs’ supply of Samuel Adams Boston Lager kegs, and they promised to challenge Miami’s pints of Tennent’s Lager.

“It was a mad party. We drank for nine days. We partied every single day, more or less until the bars shut,” said a fan who was wearing a traditional wool diced red and white Glengarry bonnet.

More Scots will be arriving for the match against Brazil at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Miami Stadium, better known as the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.

“I am from the highlands of Scotland, and I have never experienced a city like Miami,” said a fan who identified himself as a “silver fox.” “The good thing is the bars and clubs open a lot later, so we will be consuming more beer.”

Miami watch parties: The fan festival opens from noon to 11 p.m. at Bayfront Park, at 301 Biscayne Boulevard.
