MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The Miami Dolphins began making cuts on Saturday as they work to finalize their 53-man roster ahead of the 2026 regular season.
The Dolphins waived cornerback Alex Austin; running backs Coleman Bennett and Donovan Edwards; tackle Kevin Cline; EDGE Seth Coleman-Lyles; tight end Ethan Conner; linebackers Stephen Dix Jr. and Jaheim Thomas; defensive linemen Alex Huntley and Cam Rice; safety Louis Moore; and wide receiver Theo Wease Jr.
Wease Jr. was among the more notable cuts after appearing in three games for Miami last season. He caught six passes for 139 yards and a touchdown after spending part of the year on the practice squad.
Wease dropped a wide-open touchdown pass from Mark Gronowski in the second half of Friday’s game vs. the Atlanta Falcons.
Coleman-Lyles showed flashes of dominant play after recording a half-sack in Friday’s loss to Atlanta, but it wasn’t enough for a spot on Miami’s 53.
Edwards, a former Michigan standout, spent the offseason and training camp with Miami after previously spending time with the New York Jets and Washington. Moore joined the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent following a college career at Indiana and Ole Miss.
Austin, who has appeared in 29 NFL games and spent time with Houston and New England, also was waived after signing with Miami in March.
The players who cleared waivers could still return to Miami on the practice squad if they are not claimed by or signed by another team.
Miami will open up the season on the road when they face the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sept. 13.
