Magdala Louissaint joined WPLG in August 2025 and is thrilled to call South Florida home. She looks forward to telling the stories that matter to you and is grateful to be closer to her family while serving the community.
An award-winning journalist with more than a decade of industry experience, Magdala has reported across the country. She has worked at NBC affiliates in Birmingham, Alabama; Roanoke/Lynchburg, Virginia; and Pocatello, Idaho. She began her career behind the scenes as a production assistant at WJLA in Washington, D.C., where she gained a foundation in newsroom operations and storytelling.
A proud Haitian-American, Magdala was raised in Maryland in a lively household as the only girl among six brothers—an upbringing she credits for her resilience, perspective, and sense of humor.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Frostburg State University in 2013, with minors in journalism and public relations.
Outside of the newsroom, Magdala is passionate about fitness. She’s often up before sunrise getting in a HIIT workout, binge-watching the latest Netflix series, reading by the pool or beach, or exploring South Florida’s vibrant food scene—especially local Haitian restaurants.
If you have a story idea or community issue you’d like to share, she’d love to hear from you.
