This Week in South Florida: Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – There is an ongoing scramble to staunch the street violence in Haiti’s cities and neighborhoods and help the people whose families are watching from South Florida, helpless and bracing for the possibility of a Florida-bound mass exodus.

The first flights of a United Nations air bridge between Haiti and the Dominican Republic are complete to bring in humanitarian aid. The U.S. Embassy is working to fly American citizens home, but evacuations have been made difficult without an open airport.

U.S. Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, from South Florida, joined This Week in South Florida host Glenna Milberg to discuss. Their conversation can be seen at the top of this page.
