AP Top 25 Takeaways: Tide out; Fab frosh; Ducks can't close
No reason to hedge anymore: Alabama is out of the College Football Playoff race. The 10th-ranked Crimson Tide beat No. 11 Mississippi, but all that did was clinch the SEC West for No. 7 LSU, which beat Arkansas earlier Saturday to eliminate Alabama. Without a path to the Southeastern Conference championship game, the slim chance Alabama had to reach the CFP for the eighth time in its nine-year history is now none.

From the first whistle of the game to the last, the Miami Hurricanes never stood a chance against the Goliath-like Alabama Crimson Tide. Young had only thrown nine passes in his career prior to the game today after he spent last season backing up Mac Jones. Redshirt junior tight end Cameron Latu, who came into the game with very little game experience as well, torched Miami’s defense with two touchdowns. “I feel like we tackled like it was an opener and not like we’ve been practicing,” redshirt senior defensive end Zach McCloud said. Miami was without their defensive leader for most of the game after redshirt senior cornerback Bubba Bolden, redshirt senior cornerback, a team captain, was ejected from the game in the first quarter after he was called for targeting.

In the game, Miami had 12 penalties totaling 101 yards of field possession, which left them trailing all game long. For the Wolfpack offense, quarterback Devin Leary is a redshirt junior entering his first year as a definite starter.
