Former Coral Springs cop sentenced to prison for soliciting a child for sex

A former Coral Springs police officer has been sentenced to more than a year in state prison after authorities said he solicited sex acts from a child.

Broward doctor accused of sending nude photos to a child

Sheriff’s detectives worked with the Coral Springs Police Department after learning in April that Bitman allegedly sent a number of sexual text messages and nude photos of himself to the child, according to a statement from the Broward Sheriff’s Office. The child’s gender is not specified in a search warrant obtained by the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Detectives investigate child’s drowning in Coral Springs

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Detectives were investigating a three-year-old child’s drowning on Friday in Coral Springs. Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department paramedics responded to a home along Northwest 127th Avenue near Northwest Seventh Court. Deputy Fire Chief Michael Moser said paramedics found family members performing CPR on the child, and they worked to revive the child as they headed to Broward Health Coral Springs. Doctors at Broward Health pronounced the child dead, Moser said.

Coral Springs suspect in controversial arrest appears in court

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Christopher Nobles appeared in Broward County court on Friday after a witness' video of his arrest prompted an investigation. It’s unclear if Nobles knows that a Coral Springs resident witnessed his arrest and advocated for the Coral Springs Police Department to investigate it. It’s also unclear if he knows the department’s leadership swiftly released the officers' body camera video to justify the officers' tactics during Nobles' arrest. Deputies are set to release Nobles from Broward County main jail on a $2,600 bond. Nobles is facing charges of domestic violence battery with bodily harm, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer with violence and driving with a revoked driver’s license.

Coral Springs police search for missing woman with dementia

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Coral Springs police are searching for a missing woman who suffers from dementia. According to police, Josseline Jackson, 61, was last seen Tuesday afternoon near 11000 W. Sample Road wearing a red shirt and black pants. Authorities said Jackson lives in an apartment on Royal Palm Boulevard. Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony reports negative financial net worth, according to new filing

He started his law enforcement career in 2005 with the Coral Springs Police Department where he served on the SWAT team for five years and rose to the rank of sergeant. Along the way, he earned a masters degree in criminal justice in 2008 from Nova Southeastern University and worked as an adjunct professor for eight years. He resigned his job with Coral Spring Police in 2016 to focus on Blue Spear Solutions.

Who is new Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony?

Ron DeSantis to serve as Broward County sheriff after Scott Israel was suspended Friday. Prior to working for the Coral Springs Police Department, Tony was employed by the Florida Department of Corrections and Florida Highway Patrol. "I have served you once before, often times in the dark, away from the public light, simply doing my job to enforce the laws of this great state," Tony said. A native of Philadelphia, Tony came to the Sunshine State to attend Florida State University, where he played football under legendary head coach Bobby Bowden. He becomes the first black sheriff in Broward County history.
