Man City's Mendy the latest EPL player to breach virus rules
(AP Photo/Dave Thompson)LONDON – Manchester City expressed disappointment Sunday that defender Benjamin Mendy became the latest partying Premier League player to breach English coronavirus rules by hosting friends at his house on New Year’s Eve. People from different households are banned from mixing indoors in the northern English area where Mendy lives. “The club is aware of a New Year’s Eve COVID-19 breach involving Benjamin Mendy and the subsequent media reporting of it," City said. "Ben has had a COVID test and is liaising with Manchester City about this.”Mendy has tweeted urging people “to take care of you and yours” as midnight approached on Thursday night. The player issued an apology on social media for his “bad mistake” while the club said the matter had been dealt with internally.

(Richard Heathcote/Pool via AP)LONDON Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris rushed to confront teammate Son Heung-min at halftime of the English Premier League match against Everton on Monday. As the shouting goalkeeper Lloris pushed Son, Giovani Lo Celso and Harry Winks intervened to separate the clashing teammates on the field before they headed into the dressing room. The spat seemed to have faded by the time the players returned from the halftime break, with Lloris seen embracing Son as they came out of the tunnel. The game is being played in an empty stadium in north London due to coronavirus pandemic restrictions.

Slow starts, few home comforts: Early themes in EPL restart
(AP photo/Jon Super, Pool)The first full round of games of the Premier League restart has almost been completed, with just one team yet to play. Seven of the 11 games so far have had goalless first halves. Less than half of the teams have chosen to take up that opportunity in the Premier League. Across the 11 games, 10 of the 22 teams chose to make all five subs. According to the Premier Injuries website that tracks injuries sustained in Englands top division, there have been seven confirmed in-play injuries since the restart and only one James Milner (left hamstring) has been a muscular problem.
