Who is your Leader?
President Joe Biden has been referred to as “the leader of the free world” or could your leader be Vice President Kamala Harris? Perhaps, someone with a bank roll could be your respected and honorable Black leader. If you “Google” “Black leader”, the internet would suggest that any African American with a title or a political position is a Black community leader. A true Black leader knows the way. No one needs to tell you who your leader is, you will recognize your community leader when you see his community work, hear his or her strong voice or you can read their worthy messages.thewestsidegazette.com
Jewish leaders condemn 'hurtful' words by Nick Cannon
The Anti-Defamation League and other Jewish leaders condemned what they called hurtful words and anti-Semitic theories expressed by Nick Cannon on Wednesday, a day after ViacomCBS severed ties with him for the remarks made on a podcast. The danger is that those groups get confused with other self-identified Israelites like (Rabbi) Capers Funnye, who has a congregation in Chicago, and who is very much involved with the Ashkenazim Jewish community. Until his firing, Cannon produced Wild n Out, a comedy improv series for VH1, the ViacomCBS-owned cable channel. Cooper said that Cannon should reject Farrakhans hate speech and reduce the long statement to two sentences a simple apology. First of all, apologizing to the Jewish community for questioning our identity, Cooper said.
For Ellison, Floyd case brings pressure -- and opportunity
Doing so is giving Ellison a national platform to talk about race in America. Ellison, the first African American elected to his job, is now tasked with nothing less than making that system work. What we need is accountability from a top lawyer like Keith Ellison to put these cops in jail. If Ellisons national reputation was as a progressive purist, his work as attorney general has been more tempered. The Floyd case could bring some tensions with progressives who have long viewed Ellison as an uncompromising ally.
