Tyrone Alexander Ash, age 71, was born February 16, 1951 into the family of the late Solomon Ash and Lillian Ash in Nassau, Bahamas. He began the tenth grade at Dania Sterling High School which later became known as Hollywood Hills High School. The school was composed of fifty African American students and three hundred fifty non-African American students. His memories and fervent spirit will live on through his wife and best friend of forty-six years Dr. Yvonne McClelland Ash, his daughters TaVonne Lailait Johnson and Yvette Monique Ash, and his son Alexander Xavier Ash; seven grandchildren: Tionna Johnson, Robert Johnson IV, Brianna Duplan, Jordyn Ash, London Ractor, Ryleigh Duplan, and L’Oreal Ash; eight siblings: Anthony Ash, Phillip Ash, Michael Ash, Christine Shipman, Timothy Ash, Angela Ash, Theodore Ash, and Douglas Ash; four sister-in-laws: Ann Ash, Carmen Ash, Debra Ash, and Nicole Ash; one brother-in-law Frank Shipman and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Twenty-two animals were brought to the Humane Society of Broward County from the Bahamas after Dorian. The Humane Society of Broward County received seven dogs and 15 cats, and other shelters across the state took in the rest. The dogs and cats that were taken to Broward County have all been vaccinated and are ready to be adopted and taken to new homes. LOXAHATCHEE GROVES, Fla. - Big Dog Ranch Rescue in Loxahatchee Groves used a plane and a yacht to deliver supplies to the Bahamas and bring rescued dogs to South Florida following Hurricane Dorian. The organization said the vans then traveled to the Bahamas Humane Society where the rescued dogs were being cared for. The dogs received health certificates and had to clear customs before boarding the yacht and being taken to South Florida. According to Big Dog Ranch Rescue, it was necessary to bring the dogs to Florida as the Bahamas Humane Society needs more space as more dogs are being brought in. Big Dog Ranch Rescue has vowed to continue bringing dogs to Florida from the facility and to providing supplies to the Bahamas as needed.
Barrington Irving delivers relief supplies to Bahamas

The first black pilot to fly solo around the world in 2007 left Tuesday morning from Miami-Opa-locka Executive Airport en route to Nassau with about 2,500 pounds of relief supplies. American Airlines sends relief supplies to employees in Bahamas
MIAMI - American Airlines is doing its part to help the Bahamas after the devastation caused by Hurricane Dorian. A Boeing 737 departed from Miami International Airport on Thursday morning to provide relief aid to employees who live in the Bahamas. The flight, packed full with 2,000 pounds of water, food, tarps and other relief supplies, was scheduled to arrive in Nassau, where the supplies would be taken by boat to Freeport and Marsh Harbour, where 37 American Airlines employees live and work. "This is such a fabulous team that we have in both locations," Jorge Ramirez, vice president for international operations for American Airlines, said. (CNN) - Days after Hurricane Dorian inflicted "generational devastation" on islands in the Bahamas, foreign aid has arrived to support rescue efforts, feed the displaced and assess the damage that's being described in apocalyptic terms. The only international airport on the island of Grand Bahama was devastated and cannot serve as a staging ground for medical evacuations or emergency aid deliveries. Volunteers wade through the floodBefore foreign aid could reach the islands, local volunteers were on the scene and braving the harsh conditions to save others. Hotels on the Abaco and Grand Bahama islands are closed, the tourism ministry said.

(CNN) - Hurricane Dorian is the strongest storm ever to hit the Bahamas, and the country will struggle to get its tourism-based economy back on track for quite some time. Bahamas is the most tourism-dependent economy in the Caribbean and tourism accounts for 60% of the Bahamas' $9 billion economy. Newton expects the Abacos and Grand Bahama Island will be "offline for awhile." The airports on Grand Bahama and Marsh Harbour, Abaco are currently closed. Many homes and businesses are destroyed or heavily damaged and parts of Grand Bahama Island is underwater.

American woman killed in Bahamas shark attack while snorkeling with family
(CNN) - An American woman died after a shark attack in the Bahamas Wednesday, according to a spokesperson for the Royal Bahamas Police Force. Jordan Lindsay, 21, of Torrance, California, had been on a snorkeling expedition with her family near Rose Island, according to CNN affiliate WPLG. Around 2 p.m. she was attacked by three sharks, Deputy Commissioner Paul Rolle told the station. Her family saw the oncoming sharks and tried to warn her, but Lindsay did not hear them in time, he told the station. She was pulled from the water and taken to Doctor's Hospital in Nassau, where she was pronounced dead, Reserve Superintendent Ronnie Bannister told CNN.
