Crimestoppers of Palm Beach County is offering a $13,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest of a suspect after at least one shot was fired at a sheriff’s office deputy Friday.

Farmworkers are leading a five-day, 45-mile trek on foot this week from one of the poorest communities in Florida to a mansion-lined, oceanfront town that is one of the richest.

Ron DeSantis said that there are 350 Publix stores around Florida that are offering the COVID-19 vaccine, but many say the stores aren’t anywhere near rural, low-income communities. About 500 doses of coronavirus vaccine were distributed in Pahokee in far-western Palm Beach County on Wednesday. People are asking why other pharmacies aren’t getting access to the shots and saying that the closest Publix is 25 miles from them. “Then you wouldn’t just be talking about Publix, you’d be talking about Winn Dixie you’d be talking about Walmart, which I think would be really, really good,” DeSantis said. He also said that the reason Miami-Dade and Broward county does not have distribution in Broward County is also a supply issue.

PAHOKEE, Fla. - A toddler was run over and killed while playing in the driveway of his South Florida home. The incident happened Monday morning on Amaryllis Avenue in Pahokee. According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, Antonio Milian was backing out of the driveway of his home when he "felt a bump and heard yelling." He got out of the 2005 Lexus and found Tremain Milian trapped under the passenger side of the car. The 1-year-old boy was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, where he was pronounced dead.
