Known for her feminist themes and often brutally frank, highly personal and self-critical work, American cartoonist Aline Kominsky-Crumb has died at the age of 74.

Moore died Sunday at a Southern California hospice, his longtime friend and art representative, Tom Irwin, told The Associated Press on Monday. “I was doing little abstract paintings when I was a little boy, like around 8, 9 years old,” he told The Associated Press in 2009.
