DAVIE, Fla. — A crash involving two commercial vehicles blocked multiple lanes of westbound I-595 near Davie Road Extension Wednesday morning, authorities said.
Florida Highway Patrol officials confirmed that a tanker truck transporting fuel rear-ended a van and then rolled onto its side, spilling most of the 4,000 gallons of fuel. A semi truck swerved to avoid the tanker and struck it, along with another vehicle.
Authorities said both drivers were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The drivers of the van and other vehicle remained at the scene.
Sky 10 flew over the scene as traffic was rerouted onto U.S. 441, while Broward Sheriff’s Office Fire Technical Rescue crews worked to contain the fuel leak, which they said had reached the drainage system.
No other details about the crash were immediately released.
