Traffic alert: Florida Turnpike closes near Sunrise Boulevard in Broward

Turnpike closes in Broward after crash

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — The southbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike were closed near Sunrise Boulevard after a crash on Thursday in Broward County.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies, and fire rescue personnel responded to the crash.

Shortly after 5:05 p.m., fire rescue personnel and law enforcement helped a person to get out of the back of a marked patrol car, onto a gurney, and into an ambulance.

According to the Coconut Creek Police Department, a vehicle struck a police car, and the officer was not injured.

Plantation Police Department officers were assisting law enforcement with the closure.
